When we talk about the Nashville invasion of Birmingham… It’s usually a lot of straight up Country music and fun… but Saturday, Nov 30, 2013 was something different and special as Cef Michael made his Birmingham debut at TP’s Bar & Grill. Yes there was Country music but even more… It was Rock, Soul, Country and outright crazy fun all night long!
We arrived about 3/4 into the first set at about 10:50pm and TP’s was jumpin’! With only about 100 people there at the time this is strange. So we sat back for a few minutes just to watch the crowd and listen to the music. It was an extraordinary show. Cef and his band are not only good musicians but also fabulous entertainers and it showed. The crowd was texting, tweeting, and facebooking(?) away and by midnight more than 200 people were partying with Cef and TP’s!
If you missed this show… you missed a great one. The good news is it won’t be your last chance. We have it on good authority that TP’s will be having these guys back soon.

Partying it up at TP’s Bar and Grill is always wild… but Saturday, October 26, 2013 was the 3rd Annual ZOMBIE PROM! This is a party that is 2nd to none and always a blowout! Wild spooky drink specials, awesome costume contests, and great people always make this a unique event. Saturday night, The Turn blew it out rockin’ the house all night. Check these guys out and fan up now!
It was an awesome night at TP’s Zombie Prom and if you weren’t there then you missed one helluva party!
Thursday, October 24, 2013 was an awesome evening of fellowship and fun at TP’s Bar & Grill in Kimberly, Alabama for fighting Breast Cancer. ‘Rock The Ribbon’… A huge benefit for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama. The night was set ablaze by Nashville’s own Zac Hacker Band and their unique blend of Southern Country and Soul music. If you haven’t checked out Zac yet… get out to a show soon!
The Breast Cancer Research Foundation of Alabama was founded in 1996 with the mission “To help find a cure for breast cancer by funding promising Breast Cancer Research and to motivate community awareness and funding for that research.” Since then, the BCRFA has helped raise more than 4 million dollars for research and been instrumental in securing the renewed funding for the SPORE (Specialized Program of Research Excellence) grant that was received by the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Special shout out to J.R. Roberson of Bigfoot Entertainment Group, TP’s Bar & Grill, the Zac Hacker Band, and all the great people who came out tonight for such a great cause! Thanks for making MCO and Alabama After Dark a part of the fun!
Saturday afternoon, October 12, 2013 was a gorgeous day in Central Alabama for the Rockin’ 4 Imran Benefit Concert at the Helena Amphitheater in Helena, Alabama!
We arrived just after the Helena Hamfest and more than 50 people descended on the venue to setup for an incredible day! Food, drinks, Ice Cream, beer, and more were delivered and setup. 2 truckloads of sound and lighting gear were installed. Volunteers from all over the area arrived and the energy began to build fast. Band members and acoustic musicians began arriving about 1:45 and when the gates opened for the event at 2pm… the friends and family of Imran Rashid came in droves!
Kicking off the music about 3pm – Gadsden, Alabama’s own Facedown took to the stage and brought their signature hard rock show to life. People dancing and playing all over the park area were loving it. We know the people at The Depot and Papa Saia’s could hear it along with a wedding down the street. How? Because people came from all over to check out the show!
Facedown played until about 4pm then Matt Hill and Allen Park of the Matt Hill Band took the stage for an awesome Southern Rock N Country acoustic set. Playing some of the best music from Country legends… these guys kept the jam going and really set them mood for the party!
As frontman of Birmingham favorite… The Naked Eskimos… Imran Rashid has become dear to tens of thousands across Alabama and from Texas to the Carolinas and Florida to Illinois. So it was outrageous when his band brothers Rex Murphy, Ted Torres, and Kari Murphy took to the stage and lit the party on fire. You could feel the energy in the crowd explode when the guys took over and it drove the entire event to new heights to see and hear the guys play. The Naked Eskimos may not be touring now but just seeing the guys on stage made the show for me. You could almost feel Imran center stage rockin’ it out with his friends.
Following the Eskimos is never a great prospect but if you have to do it… It doesn’t hurt to be the rowdy rebels of VOODOO JONES! They took the stage and didn’t skip a beat and they kept the crowd going and made the day even bigger as the sunlight began to fade. With signature flair, crazy hair, leather pants, wild makeup, and more… Voodoo Jones rocked the night away big!
Next up, local favorites John Mac & Gio (aka John & Gio) took the stage for an awesome duo acoustic set. It never ceases to amaze me how these guys mess around on stage and pull in other musicians to party and play with them. Their wild antics and great music kept the crowd going and put a spring in the step of everyone there.
As the darkness settled in though… it was time to get wild and rowdy and we had some magic left up our sleeves. Playing after so many great bands and musicians is never easy but when Birmingham’s own FIVE-O took the stage you instantly knew this party wasn’t over by a long shot! The guys took over the party and shook the night air with all their fire. Five-O plays your favorite music from the 70s to today and their headlining set lit up the remaining Imran fans and had all the volunteers and friends out in the grass dancing around. If you missed this set… you missed one helluva show!
10 hours of go, go, go had taken its toll badly on MR MCO and Lady Victoria. We gathered up our gear, turned in the cash box, and headed for the shower. We were coming back out to the Rockin’ 4 Imran After Party… We swear we were but it just didn’t happen. Turns out we missed a helluva party at Shelby’s. John & Gio were on the official bill but they were joined by Breck & Tommy of Deputy 5, OnLive, and the guys from Within Reason. This party went late and even migrated to Waffle House we are told!
All in all October 12, 2013 turned out to be a fabulous day and night raising $1000′s for the Rashid Family! I would like to personally thank everyone for coming out and making it such a great day! A special thanks goes out to the City of Helena, Helena City News, Hewy Nosleep, Dwayne Beasley, Joe Massone, and many more for helping promote the event and more! Myself and Lady Victoria appreciate all the thanks we have received but the real praise for the Rockin’ 4 Imran event success has to go to Ms. Gena Lowery, the owner of Helena’s Hair Station Salon. Gena did all the hard work with the City, the vendors, and the volunteers. So when you see her be sure to give her a big hug and thank her. Without her this event would not have happened!
Thank you to all!
When you party at TP’s Bar and Grill on Saturday night you know it’s going to be a wild and fun night. Saturday, October 5, 2013 was just one of those nights as the Wayne Mills Band brought the party with special guest Zac Hacker! Awesome music, great times, and good friends! If you weren’t there you missed a helluva show!
Your favorite party people from Alabama After Dark took a trip up to Walker County on Saturday, October 5, 2013 to party with the Live in Jasper Crew and Ian Faith at Jasper’s Hollywood Nights! It was our first trip to this hot new venue and we were not disappointed. It’s a gorgeous club with 2 huge bars, a wild beer bar, 2 private party room, and a state of the art light and sound system.
Our friends, Ian Faith, were in the house rockin’ out and though we got there early… the bar was already filling up and had a big bachelorette party going on too. You know we love Bacherlorettes so this party was off the hook!
Check out the pictures below and fan up our Live In Jasper page to keep up to date with all the happenings in and around Jasper.
Great night had by all Wednesday, September 18 as the friends and family of Imran Rashid came together for Cocktails & Dreams | A Benefit for Imran! More than 100 people came from all over the state to Shelby’s in Pelham for an intimate cocktail benefit to help raise money for Imran and his family!
It was a resounding success! Thank you to everyone at Shelby’s and all the musicians who came out and performed for this important night! Of course, a huge Thank You to everyone who came out and showed their support ! The Rashid family thanks you and I do as well! Imran never turned his back to anyone in need and now that’s paying forward for him and his family!
